Seddonville, West Coast
New Zealand
A curious West Coast local, photographed in Seddonville. Stew was on his way home from a commercial job and stopped to check out the town, when he spotted this goat outside his house — and naturally had to stop for a photo and a pat. He promised to bring a sandwich next time.
A year or two later, Stew returned with a sandwich in hand, but the goat was gone. It wasn't until years later, when a visitor to the gallery recognised the photo on the wall, that Stew learned his name: Otto. Turns out he'd earned it by eating the ottoman that served as his bed.
One of Stewart’s personal favourites, Seddonville Goat has also become one of our long-standing gallery best sellers. Over the years, this curious West Coast character has found its way onto walls throughout New Zealand and all around the world.
