This was an image Stew had been chasing for more than 20 years.
It’s not often that the tide is right for the Punakaiki Blowholes to really be putting on a show at the same time as a great sunset. On his way home from photographing a wedding in Westport in 2012, Stew could see some nice colour starting to appear in the sky, so decided to stop at Punakaiki on the way through.
This was the result — after 20+ years of waiting, everything finally came together.
Photographed by Stewart Nimmo at the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes on the West Coast of New Zealand.
